NEW SERVICE PROVIDED BY CCG
The NHS Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) service is the easy way for you to order your repeat prescription!
All it takes is a simple phone call that you can make from the comfort of your own home – there’s no need to go into your GP practice or pharmacy.
You’ll also speak to a trained prescription clerk who can discuss your needs meaning you’ll only order medication when you need it – saving the NHS money to spend on other important services.
Contact POD on 01793 683755
Please allow 72 hours before collection of prescriptions.
You may need to see the doctor or the practice nurse at regular intervals to review your condition and treatment before re-authorisation is made. Prescriptions usually need to be re-authorised every 6 months. However, this may be done by the doctor and an appointment may not be necessary. You will be informed if the doctor needs to see you.
Patients with Diabetes, Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Asthma or COPD should make an appointment with the Practice Nurse and/or Health Care Assistant when asked to do so. This will ensure that repeat prescriptions can be issued without delay.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 72 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
